High-density design

The ThinkSystem D4390 is enterprise-class storage that delivers massive scalability, allowing you to easily expand as your data needs grow. The high-density design is 34% more dense than the previous generation enclosure, allowing for more drives in less physical space. It is ideal for HPC simulations, object storage, Tier 3 cloud data providers, video streaming, global file sharing, big data and analytics, video surveillance, private and hybrid clouds, and backup and archiving.

Optimized storage

The ThinkSystem D4390 is a single, flexible expansion platform that utilizes existing infrastructure, providing a lower TCO and immediate savings on traditional capital costs. High-capacity 3.5” NL-SAS drives offer up to 2.1PB of “cold” or archive storage in only 4U, and up to 10.5PB in 20U, using five daisy-chained enclosures. SSDs provide the throughput necessary for the most I/O-intensive jobs. With up to 12 drives per enclosure and 24 per daisy-chain, there is plenty of room for multitiered drive types.

Enterprise simplicity and reliability

Seamless integration with Lenovo servers makes deployment easy and supports mixing and matching of SAS, NL-SAS, and SSD drives for high-performance, high-capacity, or a combination of the two. The ThinkSystem D4390 is also a key component within the Lenovo Distributed Storage Solution (DSS-G) for IBM Spectrum Scale. Hot-swap redundant components, including dual Environmental Service Module (ESMs) and 5V DC-DC modules, quad 1200W 80 Plus Titanium power supplies, in addition to five fans to help keep things cool.
